Hi, welcome to The Sympatico Way, Hummingbird's blog on healing and maintaining good health and well being. I begin this September sharing with why I chose the expression Sympatico Way as the name of this blog. To start, here's a quote I found at www.pagongkyoto.com in regard to the image above, which is an art photo by me of the topiary dragon that greets visitors to Children's Fairyland at Lake Merritt in Oakland CA:
...Japanese dragons are the benefactors and protectors of mankind; powerful and wise guardians that shield us from universal dangers, and impart their wisdom. A symbol of good fortune, they bring us happiness, offering us strength and courage at each important turning point in our lives... —I found the above quote because when I thought of using the above art photo for my blog, I decided to web search what dragons symbolize in Japan, as the foundational approach I use in my massage practice is Shiatsu which is a healing modality from Japan. The understanding (viewed in the West as ‘philosopy’ or ‘theory’), behind Shiatsu (which has origins in Traditional Chinese Medicine) can be summed up so: ...A person is the result of the ‘working relationship’ of the living energies that become body, mind and soul; ...Existence is a continuous process of interaction and transmigration of the living energies (frequencies) within Great Life; ...Good health and well being is preserved in Existence by balanced and harmonious inward (body, mind, soul), and outward (environmental), RELATIONSHIP. Concerning the above quote on the ‘help’ that comes from ‘dragons’, I have many times witnessed and received direct evidence of helpful ‘workings' and 'actions' from what I'll refer to from here on as The Great Reality. I believe throughout human history certain ‘workings’ and ‘actions’ of The Great Reality have likely been attributed to 'dragons' and other such symbols of folklore (and even to the real lives of saints, avatars and gurus of various spiritual traditions), 'workings' and 'actions' that do constitute a Help that both guides and protects, and is ever available to humanity (and those of us who bear witness intuitively understand this ‘Help’ is not mere ‘coincidence’ or ‘luck’!) —So, the Children’s Fairyland dragon image serves as a playful reminder of this mysterious ‘Help’ that is available to us—the reception of which depends in no minor part on our harmonious relationship with Life Itself, and that brings me to the expression: Sympatico Way. Sympatico is defined by some as “…getting along and having mutual understanding with another.” Another definition is “…being on the same page.” And indeed, health and well being is the result, inwardly, of our body, mind and soul being ‘on the same page’ as concerns what is helpful and appropriate for good health and well-being, and outwardly, of our ability to get along and have mutual and beneficial understanding with our environment, which of course includes members of our family, spouse, neighbors, strangers, the flora and fauna of the Earth, as well as the Earth itself (and of course with Heaven too). The Sympatico Way therefore is used by me as a description of a personal wish/practice to have our soul and our body and our mind on the ‘same page’ as the Reason of our human existence, which facilitates our reception of the Help that is available to us from the Source and Cause of our existence, and can bring us into health and well being, and into an enlightened understanding and harmonious relationship with our environment (and all that exists). What are the ‘techniques’ of the Sympatico Way? Whatever ‘techniques’ work for the individual who is ‘on the same page’ as the above stated goal. No guarantees or promises. Nothing is or will be codified—for our individual needs are varied (though humanity is 'one', at the same time there is no 'one size' for all of humanity and therefore no 'one way' or 'one method' to fit every human). In the following blog posts, I will simply share what has worked for me, and what has worked for others; partly for the purposes of knowledge (which is limited), but mostly for inspiration (which may not have a limit) in support of healing and maintaining good health and wellbeing. —And because I concur with the view that Humanity is One, I ask myself now, and will return again and again to asking, "Is it possible for me to have the fullness of wellbeing if the being of you or another is unwell?"--Perhaps, as concerns this body, but not so for my mind or my soul! Sooo, may what I post in this blog truly be of some inspirational 'buoyancy' to the one who needs it ...because after all: Life is Relationship! h.
